Karolyn S. "Sue" Whitt

Karolyn S. “Sue” Whitt, 62, of Parsons, died at 3:39 a.m., Saturday, October 4, 2008, at Labette Health, in Parsons, following a 23 year battle with multiple sclerosis.

She was born February 6, 1946, in Leavenworth, Kansas, to Lyman and Ruby (McDaniels) Pool. She moved with her family to Parsons where she attended schools and was a 1964 graduate of Parsons High School. She then attended Pittsburg State University School of Nursing for one year and later Labette Community College.

For a time, she worked at the Labette County Medical Center before becoming a pre-school teacher at the First Presbyterian Church in Parsons. For many years, she also assisted her husband with their family-owned business, James Shoes and Cobbler Shop.

Her hobbies included traveling, gardening, reading and counted cross-stitch. She especially enjoyed motorcycle rides with her husband and attending her son’s sporting events. She was a member of the First Foursquare Church in Parsons and had assisted with Walk MS.

She and James S. “Jim” Whitt were married June 18, 1966, at the First United Methodist Church in Parsons. He survives of the home.

ADDITIONAL SURVIVORS: One Son – Jerry Whitt and his wife, Carla Parsons, KS Three Grandchildren – Bryce, Logan and Lane One Brother – Tim Pool and his wife, Dedra Parsons, KS Two Sisters – Kathy Bercaw and her husband, Glen Chanute, KS Kristi Nelson and her husband, Tim Parsons, KS Numerous Nieces and Nephews Two Brothers-in-law One Sister-in-law

She was preceded in death by her parents and two children, Brandon and Misty Whitt.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 8, 2008, at the First Foursquare Church in Parsons. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.

Memorials are suggested to the First Foursquare Church. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
