 PARSONS, KANSAS CARSON/WALL FUNERAL HOME Gary W. Boss, 72, of Parsons, died at 4:19 p.m., Friday, May 24, 2019 at Elmhaven East Nursing Home in Parsons. He had been in failing health. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home with Rev. Laurie Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m., until the service hour on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Parsons Babe Ruth Baseball program. They may be left at or sent to the funeral home at Box 942, Parsons, KS 67357. He was born September 8, 1946, in Neodesha, to Gailord L. and Wilma Jean (Clifton) Boss. The Boss family moved to Parsons in 1951 and he graduated from Parsons High School in 1964. Soon after graduation he began employment with the Katy Railroad andspent about 10 years in that work. For a time he operated a FINA Service Station at 16th and Main and for the next 40 years worked as the owner/operator of a trucking business, driving from coast to coast. In his youth he became a member of the First Christian Church of Parsons. He enjoyed sports of all kinds, but especially was a NASCAR fan. In November of 1965 he and Edith Redman were married and they became the parents of three daughters. Later they divorced. He and Rena Campbell Glick were married on April 23, 1982. She preceded him in death on April 5, 1998. Gary is survived by his mother, Jean Boss, of Parsons; three daughters, Nikki Tippet, of Houston, TX, Tracy Ingleman, of San Francisco, CA and Kelly Boss of the Ft. Leonard Wood, MO area; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Doug Boss (Susan) of Parsons and Ron Boss (Tammy) of Wichita; several nieces and nephews.
