From Jim : Hi, well as I was considering the last fifty years … I thought … more of that time was spent mowing the lawn, emptying the kitty’s liter box, and waiting in the check-out lines, than anything particularly important. Nonetheless, Jo Ann and I have had a great life together with plenty of memorable moments between sifting through kitty poop and hoping the person in front of me has finally fished out their last coupon.
After graduating from PHS, I followed Jo Ann Mahaffey to Pittsburg State where we both earned degrees in Elementary Education and where married 1967. After graduating we went to New Mexico and taught on the Navajo Reservation for four years. While in New Mexico we adopted our daughter Michelle (Miki). We returned to the Midwest in 1972 … I received a masters degree PSU in special education. We moved to Leavenworth, KS and I taught in a “work study” program in the High School and taught General Psychology in the evening at the Disciplinary Barracks (Military Prison). While in Leavenworth, Jo Ann gave birth to our second child … Russell.
In 1975 I decided to change vocation, and became a Pastor in the United Methodist Church. I served two churches near Atchison, Kansas while working on a Masters of Divinity degree at Saint Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, Missouri. I completed that degree in 1978.
We served churches in Kansas until 1985, then, we moved to Alaska were I worked for seven years as a missionary. In 1988 I earned a Doctor Degree in Adult Education from Saint Paul School of Theology
We returned to Kansas in 1992, and I’ve been serving churches in eastern Kansas ever since. We now have three grandchildren. They are a significant source of joy in Jo Ann and my life. I enjoy cooking, playing with grand kids, and storytelling.

90% OF THE PEOPLE DON'T REALIZE THEY'RE ON THEIR WAY TO HELL, BECAUSE THEY D0N'T KNOW WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS YOU HAVE TO DO TO GET TO HEAVEN.YOU MUST DO THIS.
6 1 "Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. 2 "So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
Jesus' Teaching on Prayer
5 "And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 WHEN YOU PRAY, GO INTO YOUR ROOM, CLOSE THE DOOR, AND PRAY TO YOUR FATHER, WHO IS UNSEEN. THEN YOUR FATHER, WHO SEES WHAT IS DONE IN SECRET, WILL REWARD YOU. 7 AND WHEN YOU PRAY,DO NOT KEEP ON BABBLING LIKE PAGANS, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
9 "This, then, is how you should pray: " 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, 10 your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us today our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation,[1]but deliver us from the evil one.[2]' 14 FOR IF YOU FORGIVE OTHER PEOPLE WHEN THEY SIN AGAINST YOU, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
Treasure in Heaven
19 "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Matthew 6:24 "No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. YOU CAN NOT SERVE BOTH GOD AND MONEY.
1st Timothy 2:5 5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus
Matthew 6: verse 5 "And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen.
