Frank Mason III 2019-20 NBA G League MVP Highlights January 2020 Frank Mason NBA G League Highlights 44 points in one game. The 2017 NCAA COLLEGE BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE YEAR FROM KANSAS 7-4-19 Awesome, now Frank can find a team that needs him and can appreciate what a great player he is. The only reason Frank only scored 7 points a game was because of his limited playing time and the fact that he isn't a gunner, he's always trying to pass the ball first. He needs to start shooting the ball more and show the NBA what he really can do. One of KU's all-time greats is now looking for a new NBA home. The Sacramento Kings announced on Thursday that they have waived former Jayhawk guard Frank Mason III. He spent two seasons with the team. During that time, Mason averaged 6.8 points and 2.6 assists while shooting 39% from the field in 15.8 minutes per game. The Kings drafted Mason with the 34th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. "Thanks for allowing my dreams to come true," Mason said in a tweet to the Kings organization on Thursday. "It was truly a blessing to be a part of the organization. Excellent group of guys in the front office and a special coaching staff you guys bought along." According to ESPN NBA front office insider Bobby Marks, the timing of this move could help the third-year pro. With an Oct. 15 guaranteed date in his contract that would pay him $1.6 million dollars, the Kings opting to release him now instead of right before the guarantee date to avoid payment gives Mason more time to find a new team. This way, he has three-plus months to talk to squads instead of a week before the regular season starts on Oct. 22. At Kansas, Mason enjoyed a career as the program's most decorated player. He was the unanimous 2017 National Player of the Year and became the first Jayhawk to ever win the Associated Press Player of the Year award, Oscar Robertson Trophy and Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year award. The guard left KU ranked sixth on the program's scoring list (1,885 points), sixth in assists (576), eighth in 3-point field goals (185), 13th in steals (165) and tied for third in consecutive starts (110). He is the only player in program history to be ranked sixth or higher in both career points and assists. Johnny Linden: facebook post: Fox is a gunner, Mason tries to pass first. Frank needs to shoot the ball a lot more and show the NBA what he can really do with a team that needs him and appreciates him unlike the Kings. I thought with Luke Walton as their new coach, Frank might have a better chance, but the Kings are loading up on lots of new players this summer and Frank should have a lot better chance somewhere else. Damion Lillard just signed a 200 million $$ contract for the next 4 years. He didn't become a superstar until he went to the D league and got a lot of playing time. Frank just needs lots of playing time to improve his confidence of when to shoot more. GO BACK | ||
