Miss America 1968 Debbie Barnes from Pittsburg State dated Larry Stone from Parsons Class of 1964 while they were in the music department together. Larry told me to be sure and watch the pagent on TV because she was going to win, and She did.

When she won Miss America, Jane Bair from Parsons, Ks. replaced her as Miss Kansas. You can see Jane Bair here on Page 1, Picture #58 in the bottom right corner, #13. You can see Larry Stone to the left of Jane in picture #10.

FLASHBACK: LARRY STONE DATED DEBBIE BARNES, MISS AMERICA 1968 WHILE THE TWO PLAYED PIANO IN THE MUSIC DEPARTMENT AT PITTSBURG STATE. LARRY TOLD ME HE WAS DATING DEBBIE BARNES AND SHE WAS GOING TO WIN THE MISS KANSAS PAGEANT, AND SHE DID. HE TOLD ME TO BE SURE AND WATCH THE MISS AMERICA PAGEANT, BECAUSE SHE WAS GOING TO WIN, AND SHE DID.

ONE NIGHT LARRY STONE, DAVID BRENNER, WHO HAS THE PARSONS, KS. ARMY RESERVE CENTER NAMED AFTER HIM, AND I AND WERE RIDING AROUND WITH 3 GIRLS, AND THE DRIVER WAS SPEEDING LIKE CRAZY. WHEN MISS KANSAS FINALLY GOT PULLED OVER, THE POLICEMAN JUST GAVE JANE BAIR A WARNING. A WEEK LATER I WAS GIVING MY SISTER IN LAW, PARSONS 66/67 FOOTBALL QUEEN CATHIE TOLMAN, A RIDE HOME FROM PHS AND I GOT STOPPED FOR SPEEDING. AS I WAS GETTING MY FIRST SPEEDING TICKET, I TOLD THE POLICEMAN THAT I HAD NEVER HAD A TICKET BEFORE, AND HE COULDN'T WAIT TO GIVE ME A TICKET. I WAS SO BUSY TALKING TO CATHIE, I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW I WAS SPEEDING.
